3G Training Pitch

The floodlit 3G artificial training pitch at Abbeydale Sports and Community Centre was re-laid with a new surface in August 2020 and is the base for the majority of Abbeymead Rovers FC training sessions during the week.


The 3G training pitch is operated by Abbeydale Sports and Community Centre and booking enquiries should be made directly through them via the following details:

The 3G training pitch is very popular during midweek evenings and weekend mornings, therefore it is advised you check for available slots first via the online system which can be accessed by clicking here.

3G Pitch Footwear Requirements

There are strict footwear requirements for players to use the 3G training pitch. Players without the correct footwear will not be allowed to access and use the 3G training pitch.

Allowed Footwear:

  • Plastic Moulded Studs

Not Allowed Footwear:

  • Metal Studs.

  • Blades.

  • Flat Soles including dimpled Astro boots.

  • Dirty/Muddy Footwear.

Only players and coaches should be on the pitch. Spectators should stand outside of the pitch perimeter fence.

Booking Requirements

Bookings should be discussed with Abbeydale Sports and Community Centre as HMRC VAT exemption rules apply.

Usually a minimum of 10 seperate sessions that are at least 24 hours apart from each other but no more than 14 days between two sessions is required.

There are other exemptions for certain groups, therefore you should contact Abbeydale Sports and Community Centre to discuss your booking.

All additional bookings for Abbeymead Rovers FC teams must be made through the club management committee.

Grass Pitches

The club hold pitch leases and hiring agreements on the following sites:

  • Glevum Park (1 x 11-a-side, 1 x 7-a-side, 1 x 5-a-side)

  • Heron Park (1 x 11-a-side)

  • Abbeymead School and Lobleys Drive Open Space (2 x 9-a-side, 2 x 7-a-side, 2 x 5-a-side)

  • Clock Tower Park (1 x 11-a-side)

  • The Oaks Open Space (2 x 7-a-side)

  • Elmbridge Park (Windfall Way) including Changing Pavillion (1 x 11-a-side with 9-a-side inside)

  • Upton-St-Leonards Primary School Field (1 x 9-a-side)

Usage of these pitches are maximised by Abbeymead Rovers FC teams and specific leasing requirements mean that pitches are not available to be hired or used by other teams in most circumstances.
